  Hoftname lié à une anecdote

Lors de la crue exceptionnelle du Rhin en 1876, Joseph Lichtenauer qui avait alors 20 ans, creusa un sillon “e Ressel” dans la petite digue de protection contre les inondations de l’Ill.
Rapidement, les eaux creusèrent le sillon et se déversèrent vers une zone inondable... la grande digue, le village et les terres arables furent sauvés.

  Entstanden durch eine Begebenheit, ein historisches Ereignis

Während des starken Rhein-Hochwassers 1876 zog der damals zwanzigjährige Joseph Lichtenauer einen Graben
(elsäss. „e Réssel“) in den kleinen Hochwasserdamm des Flüsschens Ill. Schnell und mit großer Wucht durchbrachen die ansteigenden Fluten an dieser Stelle den Damm und überschwemmten das dahinter liegende Gebiet… Der Hauptdamm, das Dorf und die Ländereien wurden so gerettet.

 Name of the farm linked to an anecdote

During the exceptional flood of the Rhine in 1876, Joseph Lichtenauer who was then 20, digged a furrow ("e Ressel") in the little damm which was supposed to protect them from the floods of the Ill. Quickly the waters digged the furrow and flooded into a zone liable to flooding... the big damm, the village and the arable lands were saved. Photo : Ressels in 2004
